A Donation from the iPodder Lemon Team!

Monday, May 16th, 2005

We just received a Pay Pal donation from the Lemon Team who develops iPodder! I just want to take this opportunity to thank each and every individual on their team. Thanks go out to Erik de Jonge, Andrew Grumet, Garth T Kidd, Martijn Venrooy, Scott Grayban, and Kevin Tew. [Hope I haven’t left anyone out. :) ] Hard working individuals make up the fantastic teams that create great free GPL software, like iPodder. THANKS Lemon Team!

Budget ver. 1.3 UPDATE

Monday, May 16th, 2005

I just made a small change to the PodcasterCon Budget to refelect the fees Pay Pal collects from each donation we receive through them. Basically we need to collect an aditional $96.24 US for PayPal fees to have $2695.00 US at the end to pay for everything. Please see the Budget notes to get more info on PayPal’s fees. Also see their website for even more info. This isn’t a huge deal. I just figured I’d be as precise on our funding estimates as I could and let you know as soon as possible.

Fundraising Progress is Positive

Friday, May 6th, 2005

Earlier in the week I posted PodcasterCon’s budget and asked for your help. So far we’ve raised $175. This is great! It’ll pay for the prize for our logo design contest - which is comming up - and go towards greater expensises. We have a lot to go but… we are on our way.

A BIG THANK YOU to the folks who’ve donated so far. Check out who these wonderful people are on the budget page. Also thanks to all the people who’ve linked to the PodcasterCon blog and wiki! You’ve really helped spread the word.

This effort is far from over. Please, Please, Please keep telling people about what we’re doing. I am convinced that WE can pay for this ourselves.

Check out our new Fund Meter graphic on our front page. It’ll let you know how we’re doing on finding the dough. BTW, the gif is supposed to look like a audio level meter… he he :D

Want to Win a Prize? PodcasterCon is Looking for a Logo and a Some Tag Lines

Friday, May 6th, 2005

One of the ways we’re planning to raise funds to build the best podcaster’s conference possible is by selling T-shirts. We already have the silk-screen gear to print the tees; now we simply need a cool tag line and an awesome logo.

If you’ve got some ideas or know a good designer who’d be willing to apply her skills for a good cause, please let us know. Either send your designs and ideas to info (at) PodcasterCon (dot) org or simply refer your designer friends to PodcasterCon.org.

If chosen, you’ll be credited for your contribution, of course - and receive a free T-shirt, too! The winning logo designer will also win a very special prize. Stay tuned for more on that (or listen to the second Planning Group meeting for a hint of what’s to come).

Update: The logo design contest rules will be posted soon. Check back here for the link. -Brian R

We need to rasie some money!

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2005

It’s crunch time folks! Here is the budget estimate for PodcasterCon.
http://podcastercon.org/wiki/doku.php?id=home:budget

We’re talking about $2695 US to make PodcasterCon happen.

I *still* want to keep this event grassroots. This means no corporate sponsorship. Right now we have VERY low costs for an event that could bring as many as 200 people.

But…we need to get cracking and find some $. Soon.

Ideas:
+ Sell cool t-shirts (I can make them at home)
+ Charge for lunch
+ Private donations
+ your idea…?

PLEASE let us know how you can help!
