First Planning Group Meeting

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

We’ve had our first planning group meeting. Tried to use Skype. Didn’t work for a bunch of reasons. Jeff De Cagna saved the day and lent us a toll free conference number! Here are the text notes of the meeting on the wiki. HERE is the audio recording of the meeting! How cool is that! This is the PodcasterCon podcast feed!

Just an Idea…A Travel Fund

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

What if we started a travel fund to help pay for expenses for needy podcasters to get to PodcasterCon? I can think of a few AmeriCorp VISTA people who work hard helping others all of the time and are broke. Wouldn’t it be great to pay for someones flight? I could find a place for them to stay during the event pretty easy. This sort of “travel grant” would be putting our $ where our mouth is, IMHO. The fun part is figuring out who qualifies. (i.e. ability to pay definitions and legal determination) What do ya’ll think?

Podcasting News spreads the word

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

PodcastingNews.com has done us a solid by promoting PodcasterCon. I love the title ‘PodcasterCon Offers Alternative to Commercial Podcast Conferences:)
That sums up my feelings about this event pretty well.

Skype call for Planning Group

Monday, March 28th, 2005

This Wednesday, March 20 at 8PM EST (01:00 GMT) there will be a group Skype conference call. If you would like to participate please put your name and info down on the Planning Group wiki page and email info (at) podcastercon (dot) org. We plan on recording the call and sharing it with everyone very soon. FYI- The Skype software only allows 5 people to hold a conference call at a time. We’re going to have more groups calls so everyone can participate.

Do you write Press Releases for a living?

Sunday, March 27th, 2005

In an effort to get the word out about Podcaster Con we need a few press releases. Right now we need one to call for help in creation of the event. Later we’ll need one about the event itself. I have all the necessary info I just figured I’d ask if someone could format it in a professional manner for us. If you can help please let us know in the comments. Thanks!

Podcon.org now points to Podcastercon.org

Sunday, March 27th, 2005

Harold J. Johnson just bought Podcon.org and redirected it to point to podcastercon.org. Hopefully this’ll make it easier for folks to find us. Thanks a lot Harold!

Welcome to the PodcasterCon blog

Saturday, March 26th, 2005

This is the place for news, announcements, discusission, and sudden ideas about PodcasterCon. We also have a wiki that we’re using for group planning. Go on over there and get a username and password, then login. We want you to participate in making this event!

Here is the PodcasterCon statement of purpose as of now (March 26, 2005):
PodcasterCon is a free users conference about podcasting. The focus will be on learning. In effect it is an anti-expo without swag, without product promotion, and a way to keep podcasting fun! We’re going to make our own Podcaster Conference happen, together.
